Australian terms..

things are different here....I learned some new stuff in Australia, especially their English terms...Im doing Australian studies, of course...I also must learn english coz I got IELTS in 2010...and I MUST GET THE BAND SCORE OF 7!!!....so high.....Im doing nursing now...if I dont get the 7, I wouldn't be enrolled into the nurses board of South Australia....haiiiih . I learned english, I also found out tat Australian english can be a little different...they dont like long words or full words sumtimes...if u dont understand, here's an example:

McDonald is the full word. To them its quite long to pronoune...so they shorten it McD or Maccas...

there are few short terms words tat I juz learned...here's wat I know:

Australian - Aussie
Cigarette - Cigie
Barbeque - Barbie
Mosquito - Mozzie

I remember there's a major shopping company in Australia called Woolworths.....tat name has short term too, which is Woolies....

Aussies love short terms...easier to pronounce words, so to speak..

Work placement

Hah...juz started my intensive work placement at the Aged Care Residential dis week..started on last monday..I never thought time passes so quickly...I juz arrived in Adelaide last June and here I am in my work placement for 3 weeks...it's a good experience though to work in the Aged Care. You'll see all sorts of characters that old people have...and It really test ur patience...sometimes they talk so loud or shoutat u but actually they're happy...the reason they do that because they're deaf...u hav to respond to them by talking straight into their ear...and juz now one resident shout at me and my supervising carer juz because she doesn't want her bed to be lean next to the wall....but the reason we did that is because to avoid her from falling down from bed...im actually still undergo training as a carer in the Aged Care Residential..as u know it's very demanding throughout Australia..Im finishing my Aged Care course on the 22nd September...juz 2 more weeks...then I'll start my nursing course in November till 2010....

Yesterday, one funny thing I observed was this...I was helping an enrolled nurse to transfer a resident to another room from his previous room...so I helped to transfer some of his clothes & shoes..then the enrolled nurse saw an Air Freshener spray on his table...she asked the resident whether he wants that or not...the resident answered yes...and he added: IT"S FOR MY ARMPIT...i was laughing inside of me...he used an Air Freshener spray as his deodorant!!!!...juz wana laugh u know..hahaha

Anyways I juz got pic of a how does an Aged Care Residential looks....it juz the dinning room...
